Averix Bio 2021 Farm Program

AVERIX BIO 2021 FARM PROGRAM

Forging partnerships in our own backyard and around the globe

The 2021 hemp growing season is upon us, and everyone at Averix Bio Biosciences is excited about our new pilot partnerships with hemp farmers and genetics companies who are committed to our standards for quality and transparency.

High-quality hemp farming partners paired with Averix Bio’s quality focus

By piloting a contract grow program with select North Carolina farmers, we will be gathering data on genetics, nutrients, organic practices and the benefits of heightened quality management. We’ll take the same laser focus on quality we use in our production facility and apply it to the field with the help of our farming partners, who use organic and sustainable farming practices, offering us complete traceability and transparency from soil to oil. Twenty-five acres of our current sun-grown and sustainable hemp production are managed with certified organic practices, while the rest of the acreage is grown using GAP and organic practices.

Averix Bio Biosciences is pioneering a high-scale, high-compliance program

For our main 2021 crop, Averix Bio has chosen two domestic companies known for their high-quality genetics that deliver stable hemp varieties. These companies went through a strict vetting process to ensure we were working with proven genetics with a trackable and secure supply chain. These genetics have been proven to grow well in our East Coast environment with high compliance and consistency, good ratios, and excellent feminization and germination reports. Averix Bio is pioneering a fully transparent and highly controlled program with our partner farmers, providing the genetics, the testing and the post-harvest analysis to ensure full compliance and bulletproof consistency. While other suppliers buy biomass on the open market from the cheapest suppliers they can find, we’re building a process that ensures mutual trust and high-quality output with a small, tightly controlled group of the best farmers in North Carolina. We’re the only supplier running this type of high-scale, high-compliance program to grow biomass that delivers quantifiable consistency and quality at every step of the process.

International genetic research at home in North Carolina

In addition to our work with domestic genetics, Averix Bio is also thrilled to have been chosen after an extensive vetting process to work with a top-tier botanical extracts company in the EU. We’ll be conducting tightly controlled and highly compliant genetics testing for some of their custom products, leveraging our quality control processes and building on the trust we’ve established with top international producers. We’re excited by these genetics and honored to work with companies overseas that share our commitment to researching hemp and all its untapped potential.

The 2021 hemp grow: Testing and process control

Averix Bio’s testing and process control is unparalleled in the U.S. cannabinoid market, and our 2021 hemp crop will reflect our intense commitment to a production model that is trackable, transparent and trustworthy. Before planting commences, scientists from Averix Bio take soil samples to test for soil type and nutrient levels, heavy metals, and pesticides. Once the seeds are in the ground, Averix Bio’s research and quality control practices will be in place, with Averix Bio staff visiting the farms and monitoring the cultivation and growing process on a regular basis. Our trackable and traceable process includes the following:

  • Flower samples taken and tested during the second and third week of flowering allow us to ensure the biomass stays fully compliant and within the legal THC limit.
  • All farmers must dry their biomass at low temperatures to keep moisture between 8-12%.
  • All biomass will be hand-harvested and bucked.
  • The majority of our farms will be USDA Certified Organic.
  • GAP compliance will ensure biomass is contaminate-free and well-documented.

Best-in-class hemp farming practices and traceability

We look forward to creating long-lasting and productive relationships within our farm community and across the globe—with the ultimate goal of complete soil to oil traceability. From seed to shelf, Averix Bio Bioscience’s vertically integrated model produces highly compliant bulk cannabinoid ingredients for customers who demand premium products that are highly traceable.

Stay tuned for updates on the 2021 crop as the season progresses!
